Alice Mondrich is the wife of Will Mondrich, a friend of the Duke of Hastings. She is known to be not very subtle.

History[]

Will's Fight[]

Alice came with her husband as he prepared for a fight. They met up with Simon at the ring, where he was practicing his own boxing. Simon told Will he was leaving and wouldn't be in town for Will's fight. Will begged him to stay as he needed Simon's support as he wasn't favored to win. Ultimately, Simon attended the fight and Will won.[1]

Simon spent the night before his wedding at Will and Alice's house. When he woke in the morning, one of their kids, Nicky, was hovering over him. She told Nicky to leave Simon alone and then served him some food to help his hangover. Simon asked both Will and Alice to attend his wedding. Alice in turn asked Simon and his new brother-in-law to invest in Will's new exhibition. She and Will later attended his wedding.[2]

When Will fretted over whether or not to throw a match to secure his family's future, Alice watched him lie awake at night and worry. When the day of the match arrived, she told him if he won, they could take their exhibitions all over England. He confessed that he didn't want to keep living fight to fight because he couldn't fight forever. He said he could lose and use the money to keep them comfortable. Will ultimately decided to throw the match and got a considerable amount of money from Lord Featherington, who had placed the bet. Will used part of the money to buy Alice a new necklace, which she wore when she and Will attended Daphne and Simon's ball.[3]

Will's Club[]

After retiring from boxing, Will decided to open a gentlemen's club. He invited all the Bridgerton men to come visit his club's grand opening.[4]

Alice later helped Will promote his club at an event. When they met Jack Featherington, Alice invited him to come to the club to talk about Will's boxing career, though Will was more reluctant to speak to him.[5]

When Alice saw that Will was watching Jack and Colin's meeting instead of tending to his own customers, she told him to focus on his own business. Later, when Colin brought a large crowd into the club, Alice told him to roll us his sleeves because they had customers.[6]

Nicky's Title[]

At the start of the 1815 social season, Alice and Will were shocked when Walter Dundas came to them and told them Alice's great aunt had died, leaving an estate and a title to their son, Nicky. Soon after, the whole family moved to the new estate.[7] Mrs. Khanna showed them around the estate, escorting Alice and Will to their separate bedchambers, as she said it was done. Alice and Will both struggled with sleeping apart.

Wanting to show the ton that not everything had changed, Alice wore the previous Lady Kent's dresses, but had them altered to fit her, despite them not being her style. While getting ready for a ball, Alice's maid offered her adornments. She initially refused, not trusting Lady Kent's taste, but soon found that she liked the late Lady Kent's collection.

At their first ball, Will and Alice struggled with feeling like they didn't belong. Benedict noticed them entering and told them not to be intimidated and that not resisting was the easiest way through. He also informed Will that as a married couple, the rules were more relaxed for them, as the rules were designed to keep the marriage mart working.

That night, Will joined Alice in her bedchambers, saying they were going to do things their own way. Alice expressed that she was worried that they would mess something up and it would all go away, but after talking to Will, she decided she'd do away with Lady Kent's clothes, but wanted to keep the jewels.[8]

Alice debuted her new wardrobe at the next party, where she drew attention. When talking to Colin, Alice admitted that she was reading Whistledown, as she found it educational for her as a new member of society, and found what he did noble.

At the hot air balloon debut, Alice expressed to Will that she missed spending time at home with all the events they had to attend while he missed being at the club. They decided not to attend that evening's ball.[9]

Will was upset to learn that he was expected to give up ownership of his club. Despite previously supporting him doing what he wanted, Alice suggested that he might do better just to let it go. The situation was worsened when Will said that two-thirds of the lords had closed their accounts with him, putting the club in financial jeopardy. With Will occupied with the club, Alice went to a ball with Lady Danbury, who quietly told Alice that the queen wouldn't look well on Will working at a club. It was Alice's job to show him that their new life was worth the sacrifice.[10]

Betrothal Party[]

Alice was pleased to see Nicky so easily learning all the things he needed to know for his new position in society. She encouraged Will to set aside his ledger and be more present with their family so he didn't miss it.

Together, the family attended Colin and Penelope's betrothal party. Alice and Will were pleased when Nicky was called by the two youngest Bridgertons to play with them.

Will and Alice then participated in a game of charades with the other adults, where they also discussed the potential unmasking of Lady Whistledown. They were all shocked when Cressida stood up and told everyone that she was Lady Whistledown and further shocked when Penelope Featherington collapsed.[11]

After talking it over, Alice and Will told Lady Danbury they'd decided to sell the club. She was delighted and suggested they draw some positive attention to themselves by throwing a ball. They reluctantly agreed.

As their servants set up for the party, Will asked Alice if she was enjoying herself and she said she was enjoying the thought of giving the best ball. When the queen arrived, she found the party dull until a footman activated the centerpiece, which opened to reveal a large, elaborate flower display. Later, Cressida Cowper, recently claiming to be Lady Whistledown, showed up uninvited and made a scene when she had footmen deliver the latest "Whistledown" penned by her and promising a full issue to come soon.[12]

End of the Season[]

After Will's club was sold, He and Alice found themselves overwhelmed with invitations to social events. At Colin and Penelope's wedding, they noticed the Barragans waving at them and Alice reminded Will that they'd failed to attend the Barragans' luncheon.[13]

Alice and Will then attended John and Francesca's wedding at Bridgerton House.[14]
