History[]
Augie Basset is the firstborn son of Simon, Duke of Hastings, and Daphne, Duchess of Hastings, born between the 1813 and 1814 social season. Simon insisted that his name begin with an A, to keep the tradition of Daphne's family naming children in alphabetical order.[4]
During the 1814 social season, Augie's mother brought him to Aubrey Hall for the Bridgerton annual holiday, where his maternal relatives fawned over him with the exception of his aunt Eloise.[3]
Some time after the social season, he is seen walking as his great-godmother and grandmother watch.[5]

- In the books, Daphne and Simon's first child is a daughter named Amelia Basset, born in 1814, while their first son was named David Basset and born in 1817.
