Gareth St. Clair is the husband of Hyacinth St. Clair.
History[]
Personality[]
Gareth has a charming personality, able to woo mostly anyone, even Hyacinth. He also has remarkable wit, volleying comebacks with a keenness to rival his grandmother. His lack of propriety and his handsome face led him to a rakish reputation. With his wife, he's teasing, and loves to irritate her, especially when coming up with a reply that leaves her without words.
Relationships[]
Romantic[]
Gareth was quite the famous rake before his marriage. His father engaged him to Mary Winthrop, who had a sizable dowry, but he never married her. Within the years, though, he met Hyacinth Bridgerton, a woman with a strong personality and endless retorts. However, Gareth also had a similar personality, and it's said that he's the only one who's able to make her entirely speechless.
Familial[]
Gareth is the grandson of Agatha Danbury on his mother's side, and they get along very well. Before marrying his wife, it's said that the only person he truly loved was his grandmother, and she was the only person who truly loved him back. They have a relationship of banter and teasing, and Gareth is the favorite of Agatha's grandchildren due to his wit.
Gareth and his brother were genuinely best friends. Although they were very different, they always had each other's backs. His brother was favored by their father greatly, but it didn't affect their strong bond, and when George passed, he kept in contact with his brother's wife because he knew that was what he would've wanted.
Richard St. Clair is possibly Gareth's worst nightmare. He criticized and ignored Gareth all throughout childhood, focusing instead on golden boy George, leaving Gareth to try to get a glimpse of his father's attention. He started to act out in rebellion, which only made his father compare him to George more. Eventually, when he turned eighteen, his father told him that he was engaged to another woman, who was notoriously air headed. He was very upset, but then his father came out with the information that Gareth was a bastard, and this was the least he could do for him. After the events and the knowledge, they avoided each other mostly, but every time they spoke it was a heated interaction that Gareth despised because he hated that he let his father get to him time and again.
