Hyacinth St. Clair (née Bridgerton) is the youngest Bridgerton child.
History[]
Early Life[]
Hyacinth was born three weeks after her father Edmund died of a bee sting allergy. She was named after Edmund's favorite flower, which he believed symbolized a new beginning and hope. Though she had four sisters, she often used to be hanging out with her brother, Gregory, because all three of her sisters were much older.
1813[]
Hyacinth is having dinner with her family and Simon Basset. She and Gregory are flinging food at each other, to the amusement of Simon. Her mother, Violet, later makes it clear that she saw them throwing food. She joins her family and Simon on a trip to Greenwich, where she tells Simon that he has her permission to marry her sister, Daphne. She's later present during Daphne and Simon's wedding.
1814[]
Hyacinth is mentioned at the wedding of her brother, Anthony, to Kate Sheffield. She was the flower girl at the ceremony; while she was walking down the aisle in her family home, Gregory tried to knock over her basket of flowers, and she hit him in the chin, causing everyone to burst into laughter and the ceremony to be delayed by a few minutes.
1815[]
When Violet decided to move out of Bridgerton House to let Anthony and Kate move in, Hyacinth convinced her mother to host a masquerade as a final ball.
1817[]
At some point, Hyacinth is with her friend Felicity Featherington at Gunter's having tea when Araminta Gunningworth was hit in the head with a biscuit, possibly thrown by Hyacinth or Felicity. Hyacinth is having tea with her sisters, Violet, and their lady's maid, Sophie Beckett, and is surprised when Sophie mentions that Hyacinth's brother, Benedict, is good at art.
Hyacinth is playing with her cousins and Sophie in the nursery when Benedict comes in, and immediately tells Hyacinth to leave, which she does, taking her cousins with her. When Violet and Benedict are looking for Sophie, Hyacinth and her sister, Francesca, bring them Lady Whistledown's column, which reveals that Sophie was arrested by Araminta.
1824[]
Hyacinth is with her sister, Eloise, Violet, and Francesca, waiting for Michael Stirling to come for dinner, but he never comes. The next day, Violet decides to visit Michael, and Hyacinth decided to join her mother. Francesca told them to let her give Michael a warning, but they cancelled their visit when Hyacinth's brother, Colin, returned from travelling.
Hyacinth is having tea with her family when Colin and Penelope Featherington arrive. The discussion turns to the mysterious identity of Lady Whistledown, and Hyacinth says Lady Whistledown would be famous, as would the person who reveals her.
Hyacinth attended the Macclesfield ball with Violet. She told Penelope and Hyacinth that Eloise has been upset because she fought with Colin. She and Felicity run away when they see Lady Danbury approaching them. When Cressida Twombley claims that she's Lady Whistledown during the ball, Hyacinth believes that she wants the £1,000 reward that Lady Danbury is offering.
Hyacinth attended Daphne's ball with Eloise, Violet, and Penelope, now Colin's wife. She asks Penelope why Colin told them to stay by Penelope's side at the ball, but Penelope admits she doesn't know. When Colin finally shows up, he doesn't answer his family's questions, and instead takes Penelope aside, where he later reveals to everyone that Penelope is Lady Whistledown.
Hyacinth attended the wedding of Eloise and Phillip Crane. Before the wedding, Colin bribed Hyacinth to not tell Eloise about Lady Whistledown, as she did not know. However, Hyacinth later made Eloise bribe her to reveal that it was Penelope.
Personality[]
The youngest Bridgerton sibling, Hyacinth is sharp and intelligent enough to be both appealing and intimidating to men in the ton. She hopes that she can find someone who matches her wit, but she might not be ready when he challenges her, as well.
Relationships[]
Romantic[]
Gareth St. Clair[]
Familial[]
Anthony Bridgerton[]
Hyacinth has more of a father-daughter-like relationship with her eldest brother than a sibling one. Their father died before she was born, and Anthony stepped up, feeling it was his responsibility to be a father figure to her.
Colin Bridgerton[]
Hyacinth, being much younger and mischievous, frequently annoys Colin. In an attempt to keep Hyacinth from revealing to Eloise on her wedding day that Penelope was Lady Whistledown, Colin tried to bribe Hyacinth with ten pounds. When that failed, he agreed to double the offer to twenty pounds. However, due to his lack of trust in Hyacinth, Colin initially paid her only ten pounds, with the promise of the additional ten pounds if she kept the secret. Despite this, Hyacinth revealed the secret to Eloise, which infuriated Colin.[2]
Francesca Stirling[]
Hyacinth and Francesca bicker a lot with each other, with Hyacinth being very stubborn and opinionated, which tends to frustrate Francesca.
Gregory Bridgerton[]
Hyacinth is very close with her brother, Gregory, as he's closest to her in age. The two were crafty and mischievous growing up, and Hyacinth used to constantly tease Gregory, but she's fiercely loyal to him. They have their good moments where they confide in one another, and he also knows Hyacinth better than anyone else in the world, and can easily tell when she's not being honest with herself or him. They are also very protective of one another. Hyacinth proves this when she briefly holds a grudge against Lucy when she rejects his proposal publicly, believing her brother deserves better.
Friendships[]
Lucy Bridgerton[]
They are quite close; however, Hyacinth made her disappointments towards Lucy clear when she rejected Gregory's initial proposal. However, after the two married and started a family together, Hyacinth and Lucy became close friends. She was even present during Lucy's twins' birth.
Felicity Albansdale[]
They have been best friends since they were kids. The two would be just as scheming and sly as Hyacinth and Gregory were. They were ecstatic when Hyacinth's brother, Colin, and Felicity's sister, Penelope, announced their engagement to marry.
