Lord Ledger is the father of Violet Bridgerton.
History[]
New Queen[]
Lord Ledger listened as his wife, Vivian, talked about how she would accept the new queen and even serve on her court, but didn't understand why all the rest of "them" had to socialize with the ton. Their daughter, Violet, pointed out that all the newly-titled families had money and had been given their titles and land by the king, just like their own family and all the other families in the ton, so she didn't understand how the new members were any different.
Vivian was further horrified when she learned that the new Lady Danbury was throwing the first ball of the season. She declared that she and Lord Ledger weren't going. However, after they received a personal note from the king asking them to come, they decided they couldn't miss it.
At the ball, Lord Ledger invited Lord Danbury to join one of his hunts. After the king and queen arrived and began dancing together, finally mixing the two sides, Lord Ledger went to Lord Danbury and asked to dance with Lady Danbury. Lord Danbury allowed it and Lord Ledger and Lady Danbury danced. Other pairings mixing the sides followed.[1]
Walks with Lady Danbury[]
Lord Ledger was out for one of his daily rambles when he met Lady Danbury, who was mourning the recent loss of her husband. They discovered that their properties bordered each other. He told her that he went for rambles daily and they decided to ramble together. They continued their daily meetings and she shared her worries about her late husband's estate with him. They nearly kissed, but pulled back before touching and separated.
When he learned that Lady Danbury's birthday was coming, he made her a birthday hat like he'd made for his daughter her entire life. He delivered the hat and said he couldn't allow her birthday to pass without celebration. And despite their statements to the contrary, Lord Ledger came inside the house and they had sex.[2]
The next day, Lord Ledger brought Violet along with him on his walk, to get her out of her mother's hair. When they met Lady Danbury, she thanked him for his kindness after her husband died and they said goodbye before parting ways.
The Ledgers were invited to a ball introducing the new prince and decided that Violet would attend with them. Vivian was upset with Violet's behavior when they arrived and said she'd embarrass them, but Lord Ledger disagreed and said she was perfect.[3]
