Lord Stanton is one of the gentlemen of the ton.
History[]
Lord Stanton attended Lady Danbury's Four Seasons Ball, the first ball of the season. There, he was talking to Colin Bridgerton when they watched Penelope Featherington pass them to leave. Colin wondered what happened, but Stanton questioned why he would concern himself with Penelope, believing her beneath them.[1]
When Penelope approached him and Lord Wilding after the news of Colin helping her came out, Wilding jokingly asked her if she was looking for someone new to help her find a husband and they laughed at her.
Later, Wilding and Stanton went to Colin and asked him why he helped Penelope. He didn't answer their question, but told them he was done with that. After seeing Penelope with Lord Debling, Colin asked Wilding and Stanton about him. They said he had a singular passion for nature, but didn't find anything wrong with that. Stanton, however, objected to him eating only vegetables, though he said with his fortune, he could do as he pleased. When the hot air balloon became untethered while they were talking, Colin led them all to grab the loose ropes and pull, keeping it from hitting Penelope.[2]
At the opening of Lord Fuller's collection, Wilding and Stanton invited Colin to go out with them. They went to Will's bar, where they shared salacious stories of their travels and tried to get Colin to share his own. But Colin tired of their cavalier views and asked if it didn't make them feel lonely. They laughed at the idea.
At a ball, they invited Colin to go out with them again, but to White's instead of Will's bar, but he brushed them off.[3]
When news got out that Cressida Cowper was claiming to be Lady Whistledown, Stanton called her hell-born.[4]
