Lord Wilding is a gentleman of the ton.
History[]
Lord Wilding was at the market when Penelope Featherington approached him, waving her fan and batting her eyelashes at him. Wilding saw this and asked if she was okay, saying she seemed discomposed.[1]
When Penelope approached him after the news of Colin helping her came out, he jokingly asked her if she was looking for someone new to help her find a husband and laughed at her, along with Lord Stanton.
Later, Wilding and Stanton went to Colin and asked him why he helped Penelope. He didn't answer their question, but told them he was done with that. After seeing Penelope with Lord Debling, Colin asked Wilding and Stanton about him. They said he had a singular passion for nature, but didn't find anything wrong with that. Stanton, however, objected to him eating only vegetables, though he said with his fortune, he could do as he pleased. When the hot air balloon became untethered while they were talking, Colin led them all to grab the loose ropes and pull, keeping it from hitting Penelope.[2]
At the opening of Lord Fuller's collection, Wilding and Stanton invited Colin to go out with them. They went to Will's bar, where they shared salacious stories of their travels and tried to get Colin to share his own. But Colin tired of their cavalier views and asked if it didn't make them feel lonely. They laughed at the idea.
At a ball, they invited Colin to go out with them again, but to White's instead of Will's bar, but he brushed them off.[3]
