Philip Crane is the husband of Marina Crane.
History[]
Philip arrived in London at the Featherington household, looking for Marina. When Portia Featherington saw him, she assumed him to be George Crane, but Marina corrected her and revealed that Philip is George's brother. He revealed George had died on the battlefield several weeks ago. He brought Marina a half-finished letter written by George that said he intended to marry Marina, and care for her and their unborn child. Philip then offered his own hand in place of George's, to provide for Marina and her child for the rest of their lives. Marina rejected the proposal, believing she'd managed to induce abortion, and not wanting him to feel obligated when there was no longer a child involved.
However, when she later learned she was still pregnant, she accepted Philip's proposal and left town with him.[1]
When Colin Bridgerton visited Marina, she told him that Philip treats her well and is a good father to her children. Their relationship does not seem to be romantic at all, despite being husband and wife.[2]
Personality[]
When first introduced, Philip was presented as a serious and honorable man, showing kindness to Marina where he was not obligated to.
The next time we saw him, he seemed more eager and enthusiastic when talking about his plants to Colin Bridgerton during his visit. He was shown to be a kind husband to Marina, despite their lack of romance.

Marina is Philip's wife. After his brother's death, Philip offered his hand in marriage in replacement for his brother due to the liberties that George had taken with her. After some reluctance, Marina accepted.

His brother, George, died in battle.

- Philip enjoys studying flowers. When Colin visited his house, he showed Colin his copy of the book Flora Graeca.[2]
