Posy Woodson (née Reiling) is the stepsister of Sophie Bridgerton.
History[]
Personality[]
Posy is a genuinely sweet person, she does not have a cold bone in her body despite being related to her sister, Rosamund, and her mother, Araminta, who mistreated her and Posy's sister, Sophie.
Relationships[]
Romantic[]
Hugh Woodson[]
Posy met Hugh Woodson, a new vicar in Wiltshire, while visiting Sophie. It was love at first sight for both of them. They married shortly after the first meeting.
Familial[]
Sophie Bridgerton[]
Posy's mother married Sophie's father, Richard Gunningworth, the Earl of Penwood, and the two became step-sisters. Posy always liked Sophie and tried to be her friend despite her mother's clear disapproval and abusive behavior toward Sophie. When Araminta tried to have Sophie arrested, Posy finally stood up to her mother and revealed Araminta’s own crimes of stealing Sophie’s dowry, helping Violet and Benedict get Sophie out of jail. Years later, Sophie introduced Posy to Hugh Woodson, in the hopes that a match would be made, which actually succeeded tremendously.
Araminta Gunningworth[]
She has a complicated relationship with her mother as she wasn't as pretty as her older sister Rosamund, she wasn't her mother's favorite child and was always insulted by both her mother and sister. In 1817, she left her residence and started living with the Bridgerton family, who treated her better.
Rosamund Reiling[]
Posy is nicer than her older sister, Rosamund, never willingly joining in her bullying of Sophie. Posy was often overlooked and criticized in favor of Rosamund’s exceptional beauty and charm.
Children[]
She gave birth to children every year for four years in a row: Sophia (after her stepsister), Benedict (after her stepbrother-in-law), Georgette (after her mother-in-law) and John (after her father-in-law). A few years after giving birth to John, she gave birth to her final child, Araminta, nicknamed Minty, though she wasn't named after her mother, rather because she "looked sweet."

Notes and Trivia[]
- She is godmother to Sophie's two sons, which would be, based on the years they were born, Charles and Alexander. However, in the epilogue Posy was mentioned as being godmother to William and Alexander (who was four months old at the time), but William was supposed to be born two years after Alexander, based on the family tree.[2]
- Posy is chubby and has dark hair. Her mother, Araminta, has trouble accepting that Posy is not petite and blonde, like Araminta and Rosamund.[3]
