As the need to produce an heir intensified, Queen Charlotte again gathered her children and asked how it was possible that none of them had managed to find respectable marriages. Prince Edward suggested it might be too late to produce an heir as all their sisters were past childbearing age, but Queen Charlotte refused to accept that.[2]
