Prince Edward is a child of King George III and Queen Charlotte.
History[]
Baby Race[]
After the death of her only legitimate grandchild and therefore the only heir, Queen Charlotte gathered her children and told them they needed to stop playing and produce another heir.[2]
As the need to produce an heir intensified, Queen Charlotte again gathered her children and asked how it was possible that none of them had managed to find respectable marriages. Prince Edward suggested it might be too late to produce an heir as all their sisters were past childbearing age, but Queen Charlotte refused to accept that.[3]
Marriage[]
Prince Edward was summoned to the palace, along with Prince William. When they arrived, they met Princess Adelaide and Princess Victoria, whom they were informed would be their brides. Not wanting to marry, Prince William and Prince Edward brought Prince George to their mother and reminded her that he, not her, was the one who had the authority to approve their marriages. Queen Charlotte then told Prince George to be a good boy and approve their marriages, which he did. Soon after, they were married in a double wedding.[4]
Family Portrait and Heir[]
Prince Edward, along with his siblings, posed for a portrait with their mother. When their mother became frustrated, she left, followed by all of her children.
Prince Edward and Princess Victoria later came to Queen Charlotte to tell her they'd produced the long-awaited heir. They'd waited a while to tell her so there could be no doubt.[5]
Relationships[]
Romantic[]
Princess Victoria[]
When Edward and his brother William refused to seriously listen to their mother's demands to find suitable women to marry, she took it upon herself to arrange marriages for them, betrothing Edward to Princess Victoria. Despite his attempts to derail his unwanted nuptials, the double wedding proceeded as planned. Their union was the one to win the "baby race" as his wife was the first to become pregnant after the Princess Royal's death.[6]
Familial[]
He and his wife are expecting a baby. Victoria is certain it is to be a girl.
