Bridgerton Wiki

Prince George is the eldest child of King George III and Queen Charlotte.

History[]

Baby Race[]

After the death of her only legitimate grandchild and therefore the only heir, Prince George's daughter, George's mother, Queen Charlotte, gathered her children and told them they needed to stop playing and produce another heir.[2]

To aid this plan, Queen Charlotte found suitable brides for Prince William and Prince Edward. When they objected that only Prince George could approve their marriages, Queen Charlotte simply asked him to do so, which he did.[3]

Family Portrait[]

Prince George, along with his siblings, posed for a portrait with their mother. When their mother became frustrated, she left, followed by all of her children.

George later came to Queen Charlotte, along with his sister, Elizabeth, to asked her to stop pressuring them to produce an heir. Elizabeth said she'd been trying for years, but had lost many babies. Queen Charlotte said she knew it was hard, but she asked so much of them because she knew they could rise to the occasion. She also said she'd done her best for them, but they said while she'd been their queen, she'd never really been their mother.[4]

Notes and Trivia[]

  • In real life, George was the eldest son of Queen Charlotte and George III and served as the Prince regent of the United Kingdom following his father’s deteriorating health, from 1811 to 1820, with this time being dubbed the 'regency era.' Following his own accession to the throne, he was known as George IV.
  • The show incorrectly gives George's daughter the title of Princess Royal. In reality, the title is given to the eldest daughter of the sovereign and at this point in time George was only the Prince Regent and the Prince of Wales. This title should actually belong to her eldest aunt and the eldest of George III's daughters: Princess Charlotte, Queen of Württemberg.
  • Netflix bio: The first son of Queen Charlotte and King George, whose royal title gives the Bridgerton era its Regency name.[5]
