Prince William is a child of King George III and Queen Charlotte.

Baby Race[]
After the death of her only legitimate grandchild and therefore the only heir, Queen Charlotte gathered her children and told them they needed to stop playing and produce another heir.[2]
As the need to produce an heir intensified, Queen Charlotte again gathered her sons to discuss potential brides, but dismissed all of their chosen candidates as unsuitable. She asked how it was possible that none of them had managed to find respectable marriages. Prince Edward suggested it might be too late to produce an heir as all their sisters were past childbearing age, but Queen Charlotte refused to accept that.[3]
Wedding[]
Prince William was summoned to the palace, along with Prince Edward. When they arrived, they met Princess Adelaide and Princess Victoria, whom they were informed would be their brides. Not wanting to marry, Prince William and Prince Edward brought Prince George to their mother and reminded her that he, not her, was the one who had the authority to approve their marriages. Queen Charlotte then told Prince George to be a good boy and approve their marriages, which he did. Soon after, they were married in a double wedding. Before the ceremony, William told Queen Charlotte that he worried he wouldn't be able to love his new wife. She told him that love was a choice and he needed not to give himself another option. He took his place at the altar and was married.[4]

When William and his brother refused to take their mother's demands to find suitable women to marry, Queen Charlotte took it upon herself to arranged marriages for them, betrothing William to Princess Adelaide. Despite his attempts to derail his unwanted nuptials, the double wedding proceeded as planned.[6]
