Rose Nolan is Daphne Basset's maid.

History[]

Receiving Daphne's Callers[]

The morning after Daphne's societal debut, she was already awake when Rose went to get her ready for the day, eager to greet her callers.[1]

When Daphne found herself in a position where she was going to be forced to marry Nigel Berbrooke, Violet enlisted Rose's help to get her out of it. While Daphne and Violet had tea with Nigel's mother, they left the maids to talk and Rose learned from Celia that Nigel had an illegitimate child he had refused to claim or support. They spread this information around until Lady Whistledown picked it up and reported on it, forcing Nigel to leave town.[2]

When Simon abruptly ended their arrangement, Daphne came home upset and ordered Rose to leave her alone. Later, when preparing to attend another event, Daphne had Rose prepare a different dress from the one she'd gotten for the occasion and asked to have her hair done another way so she would look perfect as everyone expected.[3]

Daphne's Marriage and Move to Clyvedon[]

When Daphne and Simon got engaged, Rose started to prepare her for married life and Mrs. Wilson prepared Rose for taking care of Daphne's needs as a married woman. After they were married, Rose informed Daphne when it was time to go as the carriages were around.[4]

After their arrival at Clyvedon, Rose helped Daphne settle in, listening to Daphne speak happily of her marriage. Later, she helped Daphne put together baskets to deliver to the villagers. She and Rose went to deliver the baskets only to find the villagers rejected them. Later, when Daphne became distressed over an interlude with Simon, she asked Rose to explain to her exactly how children were conceived.[5]

Return to London[]

Rose came into the dining room while Daphne and Simon were eating one day to give Daphne the latest paper from Lady Whistledown. When Daphne read it, she said they must pack immediately. Daphne and Simon then returned, along with Rose, to the Bridgerton family home. When Colin requested a meeting with Marina, Rose led her into the room.

While she was back in London, Rose helped Daphne manage her social calendar, including events she attended to help maintain her family's good reputation. After meeting with the general's wife, Daphne wrote him a letter and gave it to Rose to mail.[6]

Rose helped Daphne prepare for the ball she and Simon were throwing, where they planned to have a final dance as a couple before going their separate ways and living separate lives. She also informed Daphne when guests began to arrive at the ball.[7]
