- Sam began dating Bessie Carter, who portrays Prudence Dankworth, after meeting on the set of season 3. Bessie moved into Sam's flat in Brighton in the summer of 2023, three months after filming for the season wrapped.[1][2]
- The hot air balloon scene in the episode Forces of Nature was initially not scripted as intensely as it was. In the original script, the hot air balloon came in Penelope’s direction and Lord Debling whisked her away. The producers later decided to make it a full stunt, so Nicola Coughlan and Sam had to do stunt rehearsals for it, which involved Nicola throwing herself onto a crash mat and Sam rugby tackling her. At one point, Sam went in so hardcore that his coat stuck to Nicola’s wig and they were attached to each other.[3]
