The third season of Bridgerton consists of eight episodes, which were released in two parts of four episodes each on May 16 and June 13, 2024.
Plots[]
Part 1:
As a new crop of debutantes yearns to become the brightest of the ball, a wallflower with a double life finds her light amid secrets and surprises.
Part 2:
Penelope sets out to marry while hiding her secret life. But as romance and revelations collide, she must choose between her pen and her heart.
Summary[]
Penelope enters Season 3 finally ready to give up her longtime crush on Colin. However, that doesn't mean she's done with love. Instead, Penelope has decided it's time to take a husband — and preferably one who will give her the freedom to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from the prying eyes of her mother and sisters. Lacking in confidence, Penelope's attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he's disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder. Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise, who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope's growing presence in the ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.

Notes and Trivia[]
- The series was officially renewed for season three and four on April 13, 2021.[1]
- Season 3 focuses on Penelope and Colin's relationship, the subject of the fourth book in Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series, Romancing Mister Bridgerton.
- This is different from the order of the books, as book 3 is about the courtship and marriage of Benedict Bridgerton, and book 4 is about Penelope and Colin's relationship.[2][3]
- This will be the first season to be released in 2-parts.
- Jess Brownell takes over showrunner duties from Chris Van Dusen for this season.
- On July 20th, 2022, Netflix and Bridgerton announced they are filming, confirming Jonathan Bailey, Adjoa Andoh, Jessica Madsen, Harriet Cains, Polly Walker, Emma Naomi, Luke Thompson, Hugh Sachs, Bessie Carter, Ruth Gemmell, Golda Rosheuvel, Claudia Jessie, and Martins Imhangbe to be returning.
- Simone Ashley confirmed that her character Kate will be returning to the show as she is now the Lady of House.
- Hannah Dodd will take over the role of Francesca from Ruby Stokes, who is moving on to star in Netflix's Lockwood & Co.[4]
- This is also the first season where Francesca appears in every episode, as she only appeared in two for season 1 and three for season 2.
- Filming started on July 20, 2022 and wrapped on March 2023. Reshoots were taken on December 2023.[5][6]
- The title of the first episode was revealed on September 24, 2022 on Netflix's TUDUM event. The title is "Out of the Shadows". This could potentially refer to the fact that Eloise knows that Penelope is Lady Whistledown.
- The first lines of the episode are:
- "Dearest gentle reader, we've been apart for far too long. At last, London's smart set has made its return, and so too has this author. As the season begins the question on everyone's minds is, of course, which newly-minted debutante will shine the brightest? The crop this year appears to be rather dazzling indeed, unfortunately, not every young lady can attract the light". This is read by Nicola Coughlan, the actress who plays Penelope.
- In January 2023, Phoebe Dynevor confirmed she will not be returning but could reprise her role 'potentially in the future'.[7]
